While Black Myth: Wukong offers some incredible mythical weapons and armor that enhance the Destined One’s abilities dramatically later in the game, there are also a handful of mythical Drinks, Soaks, crafting materials, Medicines, and Gourds. Players will come across some of these items as they naturally progress through the game, while others require defeating difficult bosses or completing obscure side quests.
A few of these mythical items will supplement the Destined One’s journey by enhancing players’ health/healing or stamina, such as the Celestial Pills and the Mythical Gourds. Though they may not be as flashy as the mythical New Game+ weapons, each of the mythical items will have a noticeable impact in combat. Here’s a look at the mythical items in Black Myth: Wukong, ranked by overall impact on combat performance.
10
Mythical Crafting Materials
The Sky-Piercing Horn, Sea-Supporting Tendon & Kun Steel
The mythical crafting materials found in Black Myth: Wukong are the Sky-Piercing Horn
, Sea-Supporting Tendon
, and Kun Steel
, and are obviously not very impactful by themselves. However, some of the most powerful weapons require these crafting materials, thereby making them incredibly important in the Destined One’s journey, especially in NG+.

All Black Myth: Wukong New Game Plus Weapons, Ranked
There are five weapons worth a close look in Black Myth: Wukong’s New Game Plus, including the Stormflash Loong and Adept Spine-Shooting Fuban.
Four Sky-Piercing Horns are required to craft the Adept Spine-Shooting Fuban Staff
, which can be acquired by defeating Fuban (twice), the Scorpionlord, and completing Chapter 4. The Sea-Supporting Tendon is dropped by Yellow Loong in Chapter 4 and is used to craft the mythical Golden Loong Staff
. Acquiring Kun Steel is necessary for both of these staves, plus the Dark Iron Staff
and Stormflash Loong Staff
, and only six can be found in a single playthrough by defeating five powerful bosses and finding an unassuming chest.
9
Loong Balm
Wine Burns Like Fierce Flames, Anger Its Smokeless Powder
The Loong Balm
is the lowest-healing mythical Drink available in Black Myth: Wukong, though that doesn’t make it bad. It can be found in Chapter 5, making it one of the better options for a first playthrough. However, its relatively low healing effect is only slightly balanced out by the increase in damage it provides upon use. While this is a great option for a particular type of offensive build, the 30% recovery of maximum health is minimal compared to other mythical options on the list.

10 Hidden Features In Black Myth: Wukong You (Probably) Completely Missed
Black Myth: Wukong was a sensation when it first released, but there are a number of features that players may have completely missed when playing.
To acquire the Loong Balm, players will need to first take on the Keeper of Flaming Mountains, who will eventually unleash the Yin-Yang Fish. This boss utilizes tricky black and white orb attacks, but after defeating it, players will find the Loong Balm next to the Emerald Hall throne.
8
Monkey Brew & Jade Dew
Dew Moistens The Skin, And A Kindly Breeze Flows Through
The Monkey Brew
and Jade Dew
are the penultimate and ultimate upgraded versions of the starting drink, the Coconut Wine
. In total, the Coconut Wine, which gives the Destined One 33% health restoration upon drinking the Gourd, can be upgraded seven times to end up with the Jade Dew, which restores 55% of health. These Drinks are upgraded with Awaken Wine Worms, somewhat rare crafting materials obtained across each story chapter, including one at the start of Chapters 3 and 4 that can be purchased directly from Shen Monkey.
These are among the highest-healing drinks in the game, but the downside is that upgrading to the Monkey Brew and Jade Dew by collecting all the Awaken Wine Worms takes a lot of work. While these are better overall than the Loong Balm mentioned above, they are neck in neck with the next entry on the list.
7
A Thousand Days Inebriation
Inebriation Impairs Movement
With a slightly better healing effect than the Jade Dew and Monkey Brew Drinks, A Thousand Days Inebriation
“recovers 60% of maximum health, but for a brief moment, inebriation impairs movement.” This caveat is more stifling than it sounds when in the heat of battle and may not suit every player’s style. Every second counts in the fast-paced boss battles throughout the game, and the impaired movement can be devastating if players aren’t familiar with its effect.

10 Reasons Black Myth: Wukong Deserves GOTY At TGA 2024
Not everyone agrees that Black Myth: Wukong deserves GOTY at The Game Awards, but there are at least ten reasons that make it a top contender.
However, because of how simple this Drink is to acquire and the fact that it has such a high maximum health recovery, it ranks slightly above the other mythical Drinks available. A Thousand Days Inebriation can be found easily in the Destined One’s journey. All players need to do is reach Chapter 6 and purchase the Drink from Shen Monkey for 9,000 Will.
6
Flower Primes
No Bane, No Gain
The Flower Primes
are a mythical Soak that enhances the gourd by removing all Four Banes states when used. This comes in handy for a range of later-game bosses, and will make the NG+ experience much easier for the Destined One. These can be purchased directly from Shen Monkey once the Destined One reaches Chapter 6.
Each of the Four Banes can be countered with specific items or actions. Players can roll to relieve the Burnt status, use Body-Warming Powder to counter Frost, Antimiasma Powder for Poison, and Shock-Quelling Powder for Shocked state.
The Four Banes in Black Myth: Wukong are Frost, Scorch, Poison, and Thunder, each of which inflicts a unique state – Chilled, Burnt, Poisoned, or Shocked, respectively – that can be instantly removed with the Flower Primes. The Burnt state, seen early with Black Bear Guai, deals damage over time, while the Chilled state slows movement and increases damage taken over time when shattered, as seen with Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw. Poisoned and Shocked states also deal damage over time and affect the Destined One’s performance.
5
The Celestial Pills
The Celestial Nonary, Taiyi & Jade Lotus Pills Raise Health, Stamina, And Mana
Celestial Pills in Black Myth: Wukong are mythical medicines that increase maximum Health, Mana, and Stamina as the Destined One advances through the story. Five of each pill can be gathered in a playthrough, with one in each story chapter (excluding Chapter 6). The Celestial Nonary Pill
“massively increases Maximum Stamina,” while the Celestial Jade Lotus Pill
does the same for Health and the Celestial Taiyi Pill
for Mana. These pills can be bought from Xu Dog in Chapter 2 and in the Zodiac Village, but players will want to collect all 15 in Chapters 1–5 to unlock the Medicine Meal trophy/achievement.
Players will not get far in Black Myth: Wukong without boosts to Stamina and Health. And with Mana being in short supply, they will want to track down as many Celestial Taiyi Pills as possible.
4
Guanyin’s Willow Leaf
These May Save You From Your Plight
Guanyin’s Willow Leaf is another mythical Soak found in Black Myth: Wukong, and one of the most useful in the game if utilized properly. This Soak takes effect when the Destined One is resurrected in battle, restoring all Gourd charges. Resurrection can occur with a powerful mythical Reassuring Medicine (see below) or with the Life-Saving Strand. The Life-Saving Strand is a Strand Spell only found in NG+, and when paired with the Guanyin’s Willow Leaf, players will have multiple chances to avoid death in combat.
The replenished Gourd upon resurrection will give players a huge advantage, and often feels like a fresh start in a duel where the Destined One has nearly perished. Guanyin’s Willow Leaf can be purchased from Shen Monkey in NG+, and is an essential addition to any build.
3
Multi-Glazed Gourd
If Good And Evil Gain No Due, The Cosmos Harbors Bias True
Both the mythical Multi-Glazed Gourd
and Supreme Gourd
(below) are the two best Gourds available in Black Myth: Wukong, bar none. While they both offer unique benefits, the Multi-Glazed Gourd has fewer charges, though this is balanced a bit by its unique effect, which massively increases damage for a brief period after the final drink from the Gourd is consumed. Depending on players’ preferences and approach to combat, this might be an extremely valuable option for builds focused on dealing high damage in short bursts by stacking with other buffs/debuffs.
The Multi-Glazed Gourd is also easier to obtain than the Supreme Gourd, only requiring players to reach Chapter 6 and purchase the item from Shen Monkey. Players will have to decide for themselves whether this Gourd’s six charges and damage buff are better suited for their build than the Supreme Gourd.
2
Supreme Gourd
Hard To Beat Ten Gourd Charges
Of all the Gourds found in Black Myth: Wukong, the Supreme Gourd takes the most effort to acquire, but also offers the most charges, making it essential for any build type. With 10 charges at the player’s disposal, boss encounters will feel more manageable and less attention will be focused on conserving Gourd charges. This equates to more freedom in combat and more chances to heal or invoke certain effects from Drinks and Soaks.
Ultimately, the sheer number of charges is worth the many upgrades needed to get the Gourd to its supreme level. Assuming players have upgraded it to level 9, they can acquire the Supreme Gourd by speaking with the Old Man NPC in Chapter 4 and interacting with the fire located in the middle of the room.
1
Soul Remigration Pill
These Pills Aren’t Just Made From Any Old Lump Of Clay
The Soul Remigration Pill might be one of the most useful of any mythical item in Black Myth: Wukong terms of its impact on combat. This mythical Reassuring Medicine “grants resurrection upon death before triggering Life-Saving Strand for a long duration,” giving players potentially multiple chances at resurrection before the timer expires. These are pretty limited until the Destined One enters NG+, where the formula can be purchased from Xu Dog.
Overall, each of these mythical items will significantly enhance the Destined One’s abilities, though some have more widely applicable uses than others. No matter how players implement these into their builds, there’s no doubt that they will want to track each of these items down and experience the advantages for themselves. Whether it’s countering the Four Banes states with Flower Primes or coming back to life with the Soul Remigration Pill, these Black Myth: Wukong mythical items shouldn’t be overlooked.
